California Motorcycle Accident Lawyers: While drivers of other vehicles often cause motorcycle fatalities, another unfortunate cause of California motorcycle accidents is motorcyclist errors. Factors such as inexperience, distraction, speeding, and driving while under the influence can all lead to tragic California motorcycle accidents.
At least three motorcyclists died in California motorcycle accidents this past week:
According to ABC News 10 (Sacramento) on Friday August 6, a 45-year old biker hit a traffic cone while going through road construction in Fair Oaks. The Orangevale motorcyclist was thrown from his bike and pronounced dead at the scene. The California Highway Patrol indicates the biker was speeding.
On Saturday August 7, a 22-year old male was killed when his motorcycle hit a guardrail on northbound Highway 101 in Ventura. The Ventura County Star reports that the Ventura motorcyclist made a sudden right turn into the shoulder and hit the guardrail. He died on the scene after being thrown from his bike. The CHP reported that the Southern California motorcyclist was driving at a high rate of speed.
Please slow down and drive safely!
A 48-year old California motorcyclist was killed and ten other people were injured on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 on Interstate 505 near Winters, California. An article in the Silicon Valley Mercury News says the biker lost control of his motorcycle when he tried to avoid a three-car crash on the Interstate 505. The Bay Area motorcyclist was ejected from his bike and landed in the creek below the Putah Creek Road Bridge. He died on the scene. The drivers of the cars involved sustained minor to moderate injuries.
CA motorcyclists are more likely to suffer serious injuries and fatalities in crashes with other motor vehicles. Fellow bikers please remember – other drivers are not looking out for you, so you must use caution when riding.
