Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys®: Former MLB Pitcher Involved in Motorcycle Accident in California
Terribly sad news out of Los Angeles, California: Former Major League Baseball pitcher Frank Pastore has been hospitalized after his motorcycle collided with a car approximately 25 miles east of Los Angeles, CA. Pastore was thrown from his motorcycle and was found unconscious at the side of the interstate by California Highway Patrol. He is now in critical condition at a nearby hospital.
Pastore, a pitcher, was a second round draft pick in the 1975 draft and spent 6 seasons with the Cincinnati Reds from 1979-1985 and one with the Minnesota Twins in 1986. Post baseball, Pastore had taken up a career as a radio broadcaster with a Los Angeles, California area Christian radio station KKLA, hosting his own program since 2004. He was riding his motorcycle home from work at the time of the accident. Los Angeles County USC Medical Center spokeswoman Rosa Saca says that Pastore will remain in critical condition and a statement on KKLA’s website had this to say when asking for prayers for Pastore; “Last night Frank Pastore was in a motorcycle accident, we do not know how extensive his injuries are but we know they are serious. Please keep him and his family in your prayers.”
Pastore’s mother-in-law had this to say: “I just hope everyone is praying for him. This is a shock to all of us, he’s a very good person. A Christian person. At this time, it’s very hard. He’s loved by everyone”. Aside from that comment, the family has asked that the media keep its distance while Pastore attempts to make a recovery and they ask for your thoughts and prayers while he heals.
California Highway Patrol has indicated that Pastore’s motorcycle was struck by a vehicle heading eastbound after losing control and entering the carpool lane in which Pastore was traveling. He suffered severe head trauma and was immediately taken via helicopter to a local Los Angeles, California hospital.
Thoughts and prayers go out to the Pastore family and we are praying for a speedy recovery.
