At the end of August, Leon Logothetis boarded a container ship headed for Barcelona, Spain—his fare paid for with kindness. His mission: to travel around the world on a yellow vintage motorcycle relying solely on the kindness of strangers. So far, his trip has taken him across the United States, out into the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, and all the way to France. The ocean voyage itself took 12 full days and Leon got to catch up on some much-needed reading—including “Mastery” by Robert Greene.
On September 3rd, he landed in Barcelona, Spain where the captain and crew threw him a farewell BBQ. Yet not everyone was quite so kind at first! Kindness One—his vintage yellow motorcycle—was impounded by Spanish customs, and Leon was stranded outside the customs building for the night. Miraculously, the next day it cleared customs and his journey continued on to France.
In France, he stopped in Aix en Provence, where he enjoyed some of the beautiful scenery and encountered wonderfully kind people. He met immigrants from Benin who were kind enough to be his hosts and even offered him a bed in their home. Yet just this weekend, his travels were spoiled by a parking violation in France for €135!
He plans to continue on through Europe with stops in Italy, Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Greece, and Turkey. Afterwards, his travels will continue through Asia before finally heading home to the Hollywood sign. Amazingly—he has come this far solely relying on the kindness of strangers for meals, lodging, and travel.
