It looks to be another thrilling weekend for the Southern California motorcycle enthusiast with the Progressive International Motorcycle Show rolling into Long Beach, California this weekend. The show is scheduled to run from December 7th to 9th at the Long Beach Convention Center. The show is chalk full of activities for the motorcycle enthusiast and all of the big name brands will be on the show floor. Harley-Davidson, Ducati, Suzuki, Honda, BMW and others will all be there showing off what’s new for 2013.
Of particular interest this year is the Zero Motorcycle pavilion which will showcase the leaders in the realm of electronic street bikes. There is also a large aftermarket parts and equipment emporium where riders can find all sorts of new gear, add ons and tools for their ride featuring Galfer USA and their high performance braking systems for one.
For the first time ever Indian Larry Motorcycles out of NY will be attending the Long Beach, California motorcycle show. They will be unveiling their newest creation, “White Devil”, which features a 113 cubic inch S&S engine along a wishbone frame and, of course, the familiar trademark Indian Larry dished gas tank. Designed by Robert Pradke of Custom Auto Design, this bike is the newest beauty out of the shop. A can’t miss attraction for the Long Beach show!
Among the many celeb riders scheduled to be present will be Valerie Thompson showing off her record land speed setting BMW S 1000 RR. AMA stars Josh Hayes, Melissa Paris, Tommy Aquino and Javelin Broderick will also be signing autographs. Many more familiar names will be on hand as well!
Rounding out the many attractions is a lady riders pavilion, child’s adventure zone (great for pics of the kids), a demo ride program, the Ducati Fashion Show and a large powersports section dedicated to boats, jet skis, ATV’s and dirt bikes for the more sporting offroad types of enthusiasts. On hand will be manufacturers like of Honda, Bombardier and Yamaha—all showcasing their new products and answering questions from the expert or beginner—if you’re just getting started.
Long Beach, California is situated in Los Angeles County that has a vibrant cultural scene and there is something for everybody to do when not actually at the show. Long Beach is home to a hotbed of jazz enthusiasts who have ensured the history of the genre is preserved in museums around the city—like the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music; which has influence the younger generations to embrace the classic genre as well. KJAZZ 88.1 FM is a student run radio station out of the University of California at Long Beach which plays blues and jazz—tune in for some great music. More of a classical music lover? No problem, check out the Long Beach Symphony and Opera. Great food, weather and just a short drive from the sites of glitzy LA be sure to attend if you can, you will have a great time at the IMS Long Beach. Tickets start at $15 with children ages 6-11 getting in for $6 and those 5 and under are admitted free.
