Record Motorcycle Poker Run Set by Realities for Children

On May 26th, 2013 a rumble was heard in Northern Colorado. In response to a cry from local children suffering abuse or neglect, thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts rallied together, and set a new world record in the process.

Realities for Children, an alliance of Northern Colorado businesses that provide services for child victims of abuse and neglect in Larimer County, has set the record for the “World’s Largest Motorcycle Poker Run” as confirmed by The Guinness Book of World Records after a five month long validation process. A statement from the Guinness Book of World Records says, “We would like to congratulate you on your record-breaking achievement. You are officially amazing”.

Nearly 3,000 riders took part in this year’s 12th Annual Realities Ride poker run in Fort Collins, where the record was attempted. 1,531 of the riders who participated are qualified as World Record Riders, and helped to crush the previous world poker run record of 586 riders.

While in the process of setting the new record, the participants also raised over $100,000 for neglected and abused Larimer County youth. Thanks to generous event sponsors, 100% of that money goes into the Emergency Fund, which benefits the most vulnerable children in the community.

Realities for Children is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to serving the unmet needs of abused and neglected children in Larimer County, Colorado. Their business members underwrite the administration of all programs and services, which makes this charity uniquely able to ensure that 100% of every dollar donated directly benefits the children. Partnered in service with twenty-two local youth agencies, Realities for Children effectively creates a safety net of services when, otherwise, these children would have nowhere to turn.

In addition to the Emergency Fund, Realities for Children also benefits the children of Larimer County by providing youth agency support, community awareness and monthly youth activities such as, bowling, roller and ice skating, drumming circles and holiday events. Realities for Children is dedicated to education about both the problems of child abuse locally and the valuable affiliate agencies that serve on the front lines against the effects of abuse and neglect.

Their 13th Annual Realities Ride and Rally is scheduled for May 24th and 25th, 2014.
