Motorcycle Lawyer Sturgis; If you are attending the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally this year, there are so many attractions and activities that you can do while you are there. South Dakota is full of historical sites and breathtaking views and every motorcyclist should plan on spending an extra few days taking in all the sites if they can. While most tourists plan to see Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, and Custer State Park, there are lesser known attractions that are sure to delight. Here are a few of the attractions you can see when you go off the beaten path during Sturgis.
A day ride to Murdo will take you to 1880 Town: an old town of 30 buildings authentically furnished with memorabilia from the 1800’s. Visitors get a true taste of what life must have been like on the prairie and you can see many of the props that were used to make the movie “Dances with Wolves”. There is a wonderful Long Horn Saloon where motorcyclists and their families can grab a cold beverage and lunch before heading back to Sturgis.
Big Thunder Gold Mine
In Keystone, South Dakota is the original gold mine from 1892. There are underground tours and visitors can pan for gold in the nearby Battle Creek. In fact, you are guaranteed to walk away with a gold sample. There are mining museums, an antique shop, and an ice cream store on site to help you beat the heat!
Prairie Berry Winery
If you like wine, then you will want to take a trip to Hall City, South Dakota to see what Northern wine is like. Located in the Black Hills near Mount Rushmore, the Prairie Berry Winery is a perfect place to unwind and relax from all the excitement of Sturgis. There is a well-rounded wine menu and lunch available.
Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary
Come visit Hot Springs, South Dakota to see the large herds of truly wild horses running free across over 11,000 acres. In addition, you can learn about the Native Americans and pioneers who once called this place their home. There are tours available by reservation.
Sitting Bull Crystal Caverns
Did you ever wonder what it would be like to walk through a giant geode? At the Sitting Bull Crystal Caverns in Rapid City, you will be able to! Come see the world’s largest Dogtooth Spur Crystals and enjoy an action packed day in the caves. This is a wonderful attraction for that “rock collector” in us all.
While not close to Sturgis, motorcyclists who are leaving Sturgis and heading east on Hwy 90 will want to be sure to visit the Corn Palace in Mitchell, South Dakota. This is the only Corn Palace in the world which is full of—yep, you guessed it—CORN. There are corn murals, corn tours, and more!
