Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys®: The Sturgis Buffalo Chip – South Dakota
Without a doubt bikers are hard working people, so they naturally like to unwind and have a good time whenever they can and if you’ve never been to the Buffalo Chip during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, then you just don’t know what you have been missing!
The Buffalo Chip’s humble beginnings started in the early 1980’s, providing a camping site to replace the ban on camping at the Sturgis City park. Bikers flocked to the new campsite and soon found themselves right home. As new ways were being created to entertain motorcyclists, who made the journey from all over the world to be a part of the biggest and oldest motorcycle rally ever, found the Buffalo Chip stepping up to cater to the needs of their campsite patrons.
In no time at all the Buffalo Chip expanded the campsite to offer live music and plenty of good food and drinks at affordable prices, but what made the Buffalo Chip different is the approach they took in entertaining their customers. Their idea was to treat their patrons as if they were lifelong friends, and what soon started as a business opportunity quickly blossomed into thousands of new found friendships.
Making every year at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip bigger and better than the year before became the standard.
It is the little things that grab the attention of Buffalo Chip attendees, and the big stuff that the Chip does keeps them coming back. Laundry facilities, coffee shop, shopping, and plenty of hot water in the campsite showers helps make “happy” campers. As the years rolled on the Chip added in RV and camper sites with hook ups, and in no time they began offering RV and camper rentals and today you can even rent a cabin with all the comforts of home.
To make the Buffalo Chip truly “the best party anywhere” a state of the art sound system and a concert hall sized stage were added. To make it the kind of live music festival that packs the amphitheater every night the Buffalo Chip books the top musical acts that motorcyclists want to see, like Ozzy, Lynard Skynard, ZZ Top Bob Dylan, The Charlie Daniels band, Aerosmith and Kid Rock to name only a few.
If that isn’t enough for you, then for you daring types, how about taking a ride on the Buffalo Chip Zip line. The launch platform is over seven stories above the Buffalo Chip campground and the crowd below, rushing over 30 miles per hour on an 800 foot exhilarating ride!
For those of you who will be planning a meet up at Sturgis, then make it happen at the Crossroads. The Crossroads is free for everyone with live music, bars, vendor booths, food and exhibits. Located at the Buffalo Chip entrance it is the perfect spot to meet friends, hang out and have a good time.
In recent years striving to push the party to the limit at the Chip, free high-speed WIFI was added along with multiple stages, and a full blown surf and turf steak house making the Buffalo Chip truly the leader in the pushing the party to the limit at Sturgis.
2013 is lining up to be a stellar year at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip with top musical already announced including Kid Rock, Toby Keith, ZZ Top, Rob Zombie, Sublime, Brantley Gilbert, Halestorm, Machinehead and more yet to be announced.
