73rd Annual Sturgis Rally Starts Strong and Stays Strong
The 73rd Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally has started off strong and shows no signs of slowing down. Great weather and big crowds are all adding up to make this year’s rally one for the record books.
Monday night at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip the Doobie Brothers and Kid Rock packed the house. Russ Brown Attorneys hosted a BAM VIP night in the Top Shelf Suite and everyone in attendance had a great time. Kid Rock was in fine form rocking the crowd through the rain and lightning. No one left disappointed.
Things got cranked up Wednesday with the Sturgis Museum Hall of Fame Induction Breakfast where the likes of “Still” Ray Fitzgerald, Rick Fairless, Bill Gikling, Marjoe Gotner Lonnie Isam, Sr., and our own motorcycle lawyer Russ Brown were all honored for their commitment to motorcycling.
The day was slammed full with bike shows, tattoo contests, plenty of beer and great food. And of course what’s Sturgis without a ride? A couple of the big rides on Wednesday morning included the Sturgis Buffalo Chip’s Trike Owners Unite Ride (T.O.U.R.) and the Pappy Hoel Memorial Ride to honor the man who started it all.
The day’s festivities wrapped up with legendary musical performances by Lee Rocker, Machine Head, Rob Zombie and Gary Allen.
Yesterday was just as good and it was all about intense action. Rally-goers were wowed with stunt riding by Toby Baker and Jumpin’ Jeff Daredevil, Moto trials excitement from Playing with Gravity and FMX and street freestyle action at Swoops Motorsport Mayhem Show. The Knuckle Saloon even played host to Extreme Sport Fighting MMA action and the musical styling of Jack Daniels and Liquid Blue.
You could have caught Jackyl performing at the 12th Annual Full Throttle Saloon’s Biker Ball or headed to The Sturgis Buffalo Chip for the Rat’s Hole Custom Bike Show and a performance by country music sensation, Brantley Gilbert and rock legends Lynyrd Skynrd.
Hope you got some rest last night, because today is another busy day. Fuel up with all-you-can-eat breakfast at Full Throttle Saloon and head to the Sturgis Buffalo Chip for the daily Ultimate Rope Swing Contest, Midget Bowling or a ride on the zip line and taking the stage tonight Sublime with Rome. You can visit Shade Valley Camp Resort for all day fun at the beer garden or test your skills on the mechanical bull. Take in the Indian Motorcycle Demo Experience and give one a test drive.
Cap off a beautiful Black Hills Friday at The Loud American Roadhouse where Dirty Word and Slamabama will perform or cruise over to Easyriders Saloon and take in a show by Saving Abel and later, Great White.
Just don’t burn yourself out bikers; after all, tomorrow is another day!
